More Tricks Up Clinton’s Sleeves

I have often said that Hillary Clinton is the most cunning politician of our time and rumors coming out of both the Clinton and Obama camp today only confirm this. She is waving her delegates over Obama’s head once again, this time to get greater recognition for her efforts at the convention. Essentially if Obama’s campaign does not satiate her ego, she will call a floor vote for the nomination, reminding the American public that the Democratic Primary was extrmely divided and that Senator Obama barely squeaked by. Senator Clinton claims that she merely wants to be sure the ideas important to her supporters are heard.

As with everything in politics, things are not what they seem. What is really going on here?

It seems clear to me that Sen. Clinton wants to both keep herself in the lime light AND possibily sabotage Sen. Obama’s chances for victory in November. That would give her another shot for the presidency in four years, which is what she really wants. Behind the scenes, she has most likely been rebuffed as a VP choice and is not pleased. If she can’t be in the White House, no other Democrat will.

In all likelihood, the Obama campaign and the DNC will give her the orgy of recognition she wants and she won’t force a floor vote. I mean come on, she is already getting a parade. But make no mistake, she has decided that it is not in her interest to have Obama in the White House, so she will not go out of her way to help him and may covertly work against him.
