Jim Inhofe and the Youth Vote

Mainstream political thought would suggest that America’s self-described “most conservative Senator” (indeed, the Senator scores 100% in rankings by the American Conservative Union) would be supported by corporate fat cats and right wing radicals. Yet many of Senator Jim Inhofe’s most ardent supporters have come from the ranks of Oklahoma’s youngest citizens.

I have worked with, observed, and advised a lot of campaigns in my relatively short life, but no where have I seen such passion from so many young people as I have with the re-election campaign Senator Inhofe is currently running in Oklahoma. Indeed, at the Senator’s campaign kick-off party that I attended on Super Tuesday, a large number of high school Young Republicans arrived to cheer. You can see a YouTube video of the event complete with introductions by Political Director Ryan Cassin, Oklahoma Senate Co-President Glen Coffee and Congresswoman Mary Fallin below.

Democrats and latte liberals often think they have a lock on the youth vote. This is particularly true of Oklahoma’s own arrogant Andrew Rice, king of the state’s latte liberals. Mr. Rice was sooo popular with this crowd, he almost lost the primary to an unknown candidate that runs every year and spends no money. I’m told that Rice blew nearly a million, yet won by less than 10 points. I’m still laughing about this. Meanwhile, Senator Inhofe won 84% of the vote against three other candidates.

So once again the DNC thought they had a corner on the youth/student market, and once again their cockiness has gotten the better of them. As Senator Inhofe’s campaign continues to build momentum in the Sooner State, Mr. Rice’s humiliating defeat in November is inevitable. Redoklahoma.org has done a great job exposing Mr. Rice for the Hollywood phony he is. I highly reccomend you take a look.

  1. Hi! I was reading through your blog and since one of your subjects dealt with politics and the power of the youth vote, you might be interested to view or maybe even post this video on your blog.

As it is, more and more of America’s youths are becoming apathetic to the whole election process so hopefully, a video like this might rile them up and tell them to make a stand for their own future. After all, to paraphrase the saying, the future is what they make of it.

You can check out the video on this site: http://www.mobilizethevote2008.com/ as well as on YouTube through this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4kg514DcTA

    Peace!

  2. Being a young person, i personally can’t think of anyone more who doesn’t share my views than Inhofe, he is another monkey for big oil, who makes decisions and stances based on who pads his pockets, the rest of the country looks at him as a joke. He clearly has no respect for anyone else, as seen by his infamous senate hearings. He is against cutting interest rates on student loans. He is against adding sexual orientation to the definition of hate crime. He is the second highest receiver of money from the oil and gas industry. Wake up money rules Inhofe, not the bible not his morals, MONEY

  3. As a 25 year old Oklahoman, I couldn’t agree more with Blake.

It is quite obvious who Senator Inhofe is representing in Washington. *cough* big oil *cough*

Considering Senator Inhofe’s vote against the reduction of interest rates for student loans, I do not understand how any young voter (especially those considering secondary education) would help re-elect someone who obviously doesn’t have their interests in mind.

  4. Hey i am also a 25 year old Oklahoman, keep the message alive concerned

  5. Glen Coffee — yeah, there’s a conservative for you. 63 lifetime conservative index rating. And Fallin — a turncoat traitor who doesn’t return phone calls. I like Inhofe, but he really needs to start hanging with a better class of people.
